Day 123: Mickey Mouse pancakes

Hiked 0.0 miles, staying at the Green Mountain House hostel.

We woke up this morning to a fantastic breakfast.  Leanne and Karen whipped up eggs with tomatoes and basil, peppered bacon and waffles with berries in the batter and real Vermont maple syrup.  Oh did I mention the waffle iron was shaped like Mickey Mouse?  Just like a little kid I ate the ears first.

Karen and Leanne make us a fantastic breakfast!
Their dog Bode liked to play with a balloon

He kept the balloon in the air for about 5 minutes
After eating the girls gave the three of us a ride back into town and proceeded to shuttle us around to a few of our errands before dropping us off in the town center.  Once again this trail magic was fantastic and we can't thank them enough for everything they did for us!

After finishing up errands and of course hitting up Ben and Jerry's, we waved goodbye to Coyote who got back on the trail today.  Then Why Not and I grabbed lunch at an Italian place in town before calling the hostel to get picked up.  The Green Mountain House has to be one of the best hostels I've stayed in on the whole trail.  It is literally like staying in somebody's home.  Space is limited to about 11 people but the entire house is for use by the hikers, with the guy who runs it living in the house next door.  Even though the hostel has been running for six years the hostel looks brand new and is spotlessly clean inside.  Your stay comes with free laundry, towel, sheets and a pint of Ben and Jerry's.  The price for all of this?  $25.  Wow.

Staying here tonight is Why Not, Techie, Invisible Man, Jacko, Rolling-R, Handstand (LT Nobo) and Buzzsaw (AT Sobo).  We all spent the afternoon hanging out and chatting.  Why Not and I went back to the Thai place for dinner and met up with Srocket and her mom and aunt.  Her mom is finishing up her week long hike and is getting picked up by Srocket's aunt.  It sounds like she had a great time this past week.  Karen very kindly gave Why Not and I a ride back to the hostel after dinner.
